Programe objective:
- developing the IGR’s research activities in alignment with the needs of Romanian society and with national and European strategic directions;
- enhancing knowledge regarding the geological composition of Romania’s territory to provide a scientific basis for decision-making at national, local, or European levels;
- fulfilling international obligations undertaken by the IGR within the framework of international projects and programs;
- increasing the IGR’s contribution to understanding and assessing the potential for critical and strategic raw materials;
- increasing the IGR’s involvement in renewable energy resource research as a means of reducing the carbon footprint of the Romanian economy;
- developing national-level spatial databases covering geology, mineral resources, and natural risk zones, as stipulated by the European Union’s INSPIRE Directive and transposed nationally within the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (INIS);
- preparing, vectorizing, and publishing the map sheets of the Geological Map of Romania at a 1:50,000 scale;
- developing geophysical research centered on the Surlari National Geomagnetic Observatory, as a research infrastructure linked to global networks;
- increasing the I.G.R.’s capacity to participate in national and international research projects;
- enhancing the scientific and social visibility of the I.G.R.;
- leveraging the analytical capabilities existing within the I.G.R.;
- facilitating the dissemination of research results and knowledge transfer between generations.
